Encounter Youth is a youth group that likes having general fun and good times. We also like Jesus. A lot.
We are a family church. Families of all ages and sizes are welcome here. All children participate in our moming service for a short period and then go to different age-specific programmes. We also offer several ministries that cater for children during the week — see Encounter Youth, The Ark Preschool and Kids Care.
Creche is supervised for children aged three years and under. We have a spacious room with a wide variety of play equipment. The room opens onto an outside play area and sandpit. The creche has a video link with the auditorium in case parents stay so they can still be a part of the service.
Children aged 3 1/2 to 12 years old all meet together in the church lounge. We have an awesome team of leaders who work together to bring the children to a greater understanding of who God is and how He can work in their lives. The programme is taught in a way so all ages are catered for. The children are encouraged to experience God in all sorts of ways. The sessions are lively with truths from the Bible being taught in creative ways.
Once a month we open up the church carpark to the public for a car boot sale. Individuals and groups are welcome to come along and sell their stuff — clearing out their garage, raising funds for a school trip or whatever. Groups within the church run the sausage sizzle to raise funds for their ministry. The fourth Saturday of the month sees the church property buzzing with people coming and going, buying and selling and enjoying one another’s company!

We have Mainly Music operating at two venues; Mondays at St John's Anglican Church, 10.00am and Thursdays at Stoke Primary School at 9.30am (term time only). It is a place to make connections — especially for first-time mums and for those who are new to the district. The mums and the children have a great time singing and dancing to songs and spending quality time together with lots of laughs. After the music session, there is morning tea for both children and adults.
